My husband says I collect collections. Perhaps there’s a bit of truth to his statement, given my penchant for Fiesta dinnerware, milk glass, ornamental elephants, et al.
The first and largest of my collections started 30 years ago at Neil’s restaurant in Wildwood, N.J. Their oyster-shaped matchbooks caught my eye. I picked up a pack with no intention of amassing the sulfurous sticks. But, cigarette smoking was popular back then, and interesting match covers were everywhere. Decades later, my collection is nudging 300.
